Spirit in the Sky

Spirit in the Sky

Many of you know at Nova, we are more than colleagues and coworkers. We are a close-knit family, and we take that very seriously. We were devastated this week when we lost our very dear family member Larry Knapp, who passed away unexpectedly Monday.

Larry was very precious to us. His presence in the office was always full of laughter, optimism and sunshine, which shone onto the rest of us, brightening our days and lightening our moods. Always upbeat and rhythmically solid, his consistency set the tempo that marched us forward. He started Nova in 1983, with partner Dan Foley, and was a crucial part of setting the foundation for this wonderful place we call home. For that, we cherished him, and will forever be grateful.

It’s traditional to say now, “He will be missed,” but we don’t think we can rightfully say that at Nova, because Larry will never truly leave us. He will always be a light in the office and a part of our family.

This one goes out to you, Larry, our Spirit in the Sky:

Larry, I will always remember your special “Larry-isms” that kept us entertained. You were a positive spirit at Nova and inspired us all to be happy and love what we do. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the past and current Nova family and to the Knapp family.

To all the staff at Nova, my deepest condolences. I have known Larry since the mid 90’s when he came in to create a logo and marketing materials for Dover Partners, Inc. and again I had the pleasure of reconnecting with him at St. Vincent de Paul. His compassion and understanding of the mission helped us to communicate the needs of the homeless and poor. Larry, old friend, you will be missed – many blessings to you in heaven. God will be there to welcome you home.

Larry and I have had a great client/vendor relationship for over 25 years. I recently found out he played drums, and he probably never knew I play guitar. I regret I didn’t know him socially. I do know he never skipped a beat when expecting the best price or a timely response to his phone calls. He was certainly a true professional to work with. I wish his family and co-workers peace, and I’ll miss hearing his unique matter of fact voice and great sense of humor. Good to know ya, Larry!

In this crazy world of advertising Larry seemed to have a complete calmness and peace about him.
May warm thoughts and great memories be with The Knapp & Nova Creative families during this difficult time.
